An MBTA RIDE van and a pickup truck collided near the intersection of Walnut and Elm streets in Saugus on September 22, 2014 as reported in the Boston Globe causing multiple injuries and disrupting traffic.

Injured victims involving the Ride should understand that often the MBTA is subcontracting the van driver work to private companies. This means that many RIDE drivers are not MBTA employees. People who are injured in a collision involving the RIDE need to be sure to include these sub-contractors in any injury claim they are pursuing. If possible, injured passengers should do all they can to get their own witness information as well as take the name of all operators involved in a collision. Taking photos with a cell phone also may be of critical assistance later in assessing fault and the intensity of any collision impact.
