5,000 pedestrians killed annually in traffic accidents

Close to 5,000 pedestrians are killed in traffic accidents every year. Injuries suffered as a result of these types of accidents can be severe and life-altering. You may have injuries to your head or neck, have nerve damage or spinal cord paralysis, broken or dislocated a bone or limb, or even have lost the use of a limb.

Immediately after the accident occurs

Pedestrian accident cases can often be won or lost depending on investigations done immediately after the accident occurs. Preserving evidence in a pedestrian accident is crucial. It is critical to immediately investigate these accidents because accident scenes change and witnesses disappear and move. The scene should be photographed as soon as possible to memorialize the scene as it appeared at the time of the accident. Therefore, it should be photographed at the same time of day as the accident. The photos should show the roadway from the view of the pedestrian and from that of the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident. In appropriate cases, traffic engineers should be contacted to determine whether there were appropriate traffic controls, lights, signaling, signage, and striping at the scene. Witnesses should be located and interviewed.
